CELEBRATING 10 YEARS Book IT!

CELEBRATE THE FUN OF READING!

Manteca, CA

What is a book festival?

A book festival is an opportunity for authors and book lovers to join together in a festive environment. At the Great Valley Bookfest, you can mingle with your favorite authors, discover new ones, or pick up that book you have been dying to read.

The interactive Children’s areas will have something for everyone in the family.  Meet your favorite Princess, Spiderman, Captain America and other amazing characters.  Magicians will offer balloon sculptures plus amazing magic throughout the day.  The Children’s Zone by NEW LIFE will present martial arts, dance demos and even a couple of bounce houses.  For children, a book festival is a great place to develop a love for reading. See you there!

All of the day’s activities — which include author presentations, workshops, cooking demonstrations, parade, and performances — are provided free of charge.

Location

The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley Shopping Center is conveniently located at the Union Road exit and Highway 120, a beautiful setting for the festivities. The massive parking lot will be covered with tented stages for presentations and workshops. Dozens of authors will answer questions and sign books in “Authors’ Alley,” gourmet food trucks will line “Knosh Boulevard,” and the rest of the walkways will be filled with a wide variety of vendors.

Book Festival festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a costume parade; people of all ages are invited to dress up as characters from their favorite books and join the pageant! There’s something for everyone, so mark your calendar and join the fun!

A Word

From Our Founder

Welcome to the Great Valley Bookfest! I am so happy you are joining us. Running with an idea from the Book Festival in Decatur, Georgia, our Bookfest morphed into a fun, lively, FREE celebration of reading and the written word.

To kick-off the festival, musicians and mascots from local schools will lead a parade for readers of all ages.

This year’s festival will feature an outstanding line-up of authors and poets. Get your books signed! Watch local entertainment! Take a selfie with a mascot! And, most importantly – have a ton of fun! Ready to write your own book? Then the Writers’ Nook is for you! Learn from experienced editors and publishers.

Sponsors who donate both funds and services make it possible, authors (who give their time freely) make it fun, and volunteers who work throughout the year bring the festival to life. A warm thank you to them all.

 See you at the Bookfest!
